I'd look into the Feather CX 1.1 instead of the 1.3 just based on drivetrain alone. Also, the Fuji Touring comes with a rack, so, one less expense to make the commute a little easier.

Cross Checks have 132.5 rear spacing. Road or mountain hubs will work; couldn't be any easier. I have a 950 series Shimano XTR hub laced to a Velocity Dyad set up singlespeed and no tensioner....

The RS Sektor Solo Air is nice for the money if you don't want the two-position coil. Its pretty light too, and plenty stiff. Its what I've got on the front of my Bandit.
