Try scooting back on the saddle. More of your thighs will be touching the saddle giving you better control. That's what I had to do.

Tie a rubber band through your front wheel and frame. It acts as a very weak brake. When leaned against something, it's enough to keep your bike upright and not spin down.

A fixed/ss rear hub will not allow you to run a fixed/fixed configuration.

They are $5 and you can buy them at Penn Station. They are life long and can be used for the LIRR and Metro-North.
