This has been my experience as well. I only ever use one lever to remove the tire. Sometimes I need the lever to pop it onto the rim, but most of the time I just use my hands.

I definitely look at the weather forecast in the morning before I ride in. I will ride unless 80-90% chance of rain or T-storms. I have fenders so I don't care if it's wet - except when it's cold.

My average is around 15.5 mph for a 22 mile round trip commute. Usually 41 to 45 minutes each way. Total climb is approximately 500 feet with rolling hills (but mostly flat).
