I was fortunate in that my hernia was non-symptomatic. I am off in the summer and given my size, it was only going to get bigger and require more major surgery so I opted to take care of it now...

What mainstream bicycling magazines were around in the mid 1990's?

Back in 1993 or 1994 I bought a special edition magazine that was a beginner's guide to bicycling. It wasn't a buyer's guide but rather an introduction to the various aspects of bicycling, including...

I rode an FX 7.2 for five years at a weight of 360+ pounds with no issues and that was with stock wheels. I simply stayed on smooth surfaces (pavement, packed dirt, packed gravel) and avoided large...

I would say that in the Jamis line-up, the Citizen might be a better choice than the Coda if you are looking for a really upright riding position. The Coda has a relatively aggressive riding...

I will say that for a couple of years I rode a bike with 132.5 mm spacing with an MTB hub and I'll never do that again. I'll stick with definitive spacing and and a matching hub.

Is a vintage Giant Sedona worth considering?

One of the pawn shops near my place of employment has an older, probably late 80's to early 90's Giant Sedona for $49.99. To be honest, I'm primarily interested in it as a project frameset to build...
