Keep a shower cap tucked under your saddle rails. If it is wet out, use it to cover your saddle while parked. Prepare to clean and regrease exposed interfaces(seatpost, et al)more often.

Well put, tundraman. At a point it becomes easier to use a "sacrificial" bike for winter commuting and just replace the parts as they rust out, especially chains.

I use pearl izumi bibs, the 80 dollar model (those are the inexpensive ones believe it or not). You can always wear thin shorts over them, but every additional layer decreases the comfort IME.
