What should I do with this bike?

I just bought a 1997 Cannondale V700 to replace my '99 Jamis Dakar that was stolen last week. I was considering a new bike, but I only had about $500 to spend and anything under $1,000 in FS seems to...

Yes, but a pair of those pre-built CR18 rims with a cheap fixie hub won't be much more than used junker that will need tires and a decent saddle anyway. I dunno, I know my Dunelt 650A fixie...

Oh how I missed thee

I've been commuting on a road bike for a while, but I brought out my Raleigh Sport this morning. That bike makes me feel like a steel giant.

I really want to try one of these out on some rocky, difficult trails. Why cut a line when you can rollover anything? I've tried these out in the city just around the block and it is pretty darned...

Correct me if I'm wrong(and I usually am), but as far as I know weight really only matters when it's rolling weight, aka wheels. Beyond that, extra pounds don't make any more difference on the bike...

Honestly, apart from being afraid of clipless in a trail setting, I just don't want to have to wear the special shoes. A BMX platform pedal with the really good pins or cleats or whatever they call...

I checked out some Diamondbacks the other day and they were just beasts- just massive and heavy. The frames felt bigger than they were. Now, I actually like that in a city bike, but I prefer a...

Good call on the Diamondback - it's at least something you can upgrade later. If you end up getting into mountain biking, you will probably want a better suspension fork at some point.

Used older full suspension or cheap new one?

I had a 1999 Jamis full suspension that I really loved. Now that it has been stolen, I'm looking for something else. I can only afford about $500, so my options are another '90s FS bike on...
