I was not letting her drive. And her parents had to know about it. If her parent's hadn't answered, I'd have stuffed my bike into the trunk and driven her to a police station.

An interesting run in with a drunk driver

I was riding my bike late at night when I saw a car going slow and weaving across the road, coming within a foot of hitting me. I suspected that the driver was drunk. We both stopped at the next red...

I think self driving cars are better than human-driven cars. Initially, the self driving feature will only be permitted on interstates in a few states, then eventually on interstates nationwide, then...

There are a few roads I would avoid riding in the day that are a pleasure riding at night. For my long distance trips, I prefer putting in significant mileage at night.

Unleashed dog chases after my bike, then gets hit by car

I saw a dog roaming around a yard without a leash. As I pass by on my bike, it starts chasing after me. I increase my speed to 20 mph and the dog can't catch up. Then a car hits the dog when it can't...

I biked 75 miles yesterday, longest ride of the year, without feeling tired

I haven't gone far on my bike this year so far. My average ride length was 10-15 miles and I only did a few. But yesterday I rode 75 miles without a hitch. Didn't get too tired or sore at the end. I...

It really wasn't that bad napping on a park bench. First of all, I was far away from New York City, in a suburb. It was also daybreak, statistically the lowest crime rate of the day.

Have you biked more miles than you drove?

In the past 3 months, I have biked many more miles than I drove. I averaged over 100 miles a week on the bike and 30 miles driven per week. I last filled gas in June.

It's best to lock it to a parking meter. The meters themselves are nearly impossible to remove.

The tree will eventually grow wide enough that a u lock can't fit around it.

Has cycling changed your driving habits?

I noticed that I tend to coast to a stop for a long distance if the light is red, rather than stay on the gas only to hit the brake 500 feet later, and no one else seems to do that. I sometimes stop...
