New bike! - 2014 Specialized Comp Smartweld

I just got a new bike recently! For $1350 I got a new 54cm Specialized Comp with it's new Smartweld technology. It's pretty neat because it's suppose to give the welds at the headtube more strength...

Seems like the buy it now price is pretty good. In late 2008, I bought a lightly used 2008 Cannondale CAAD9-6 for around $800 shipped, which was a pretty decent deal for me.

I think cheaper bikes are perfectly fine if you maintain them. I don't think you should have any problems if you regularly clean and lube your bike. The cheaper components should last long enough....

This is what I recommend, flushing the shifting system with some kind of oil. I usually use Tri-flow, click through the gears, wipe it down, and use the air compressor to blow out any excess stuff....
