Looking for a good compact 46-34 crank to replace my 11 speed 50-34 Shimano 105

I don't need the speed of 50T on my big ring. Yet I would like an at least as good 46-34 crankset that will fit the BB that my GT Grade Alloy105 has. I'll be very much obliged for any...

Can I replace GT GradeAlloy 50-34 crank set with Shimano XT M8000 double crank set?

I don't need high speed, and would rather trade for lower garing. The bike is Grade Alloy 105 - EnduRoad - Road - Bikes (http://www.gtbicycles.com/usa_en/2015/bikes/road/adventure/grade-alloy-105) ...

I heartily concur. I'm all for STI shifters, but can accept trigger shifters. But I just don't like mtb handle bars. I too used to ride BSA Hornet and Starfire

For long tour, I prefer around 100km.(62.5miles) per day, ending my ride around noon. The longest ride I've done is 198km.(about 125miles) for the day. That was on a SAG 5 days tour on road bike....
