OP didn't say how much he's been riding of late. Was the "done a century before when I was touring" last year or 30 years ago?

If you have been riding ~200 miles/week, then a century is no big...

I do have the 120 tpi version, but it's hard for me to judge because I haven't owned a pair with lower tpi.

Love my X'plor USH tires. At high pressure they are great on pavement, at lower pressure they're good on gravel.

Trekmogul, if I had the resources I might be as bike-acquisitive as you (though, as others have opined, I would surely be more brand-diverse), but I'm curious: How many hours/week do you ride?

It's hard to way what "just as good" means, but my 105 5800 11 speed drive train shifts just as smoothly as my Dura Ace 7900 10 speed drive train. I was amazed when I got the new 105 bike just how...

24 seconds. Exactly.

22 seconds if it's a carbon bike.

Or rather, we have no clue. But if you are riding for speed, averaging 19 MPH on a 6 mile loop, then you'll be happier on a road bike.

In my defense, I was out on the road when I mistakenly...
