Ok. Looks like this upgrade is not optional which is fair enough. Interesting to see if it lasts as long. Shame as I was planning on reusing the spokes this time. Last 3 rebuilds I've always...

Brompton Double Wall Rims

Hi,

Looks like I'll need to replace my Brompton rear rim again soon. So I looked on the SJS site to order the bits.

However the site now describes them as "Brompton 16 x 1 3/8 (349) Angle...

I broke a spoke on my new brompton a month after buying it. Replaced it myself. Ended up replacing two or three before the rim wore out at 12 months.

Just my opinion: it's virtually impossible...

I've used both types of kevlar tyres on my Brompton. The only time I've had an 'instant' puncture was when I rode over a pozidrive screw that was sitting in the road pointing upwards! The...

Thanks,
Might be worth taking to the shop I bought it from and asking them. Really fancy separate chain ring. Are there really different tapers on bottom brackets?
Rob.

New seat post and no knee pain. Only had it a week but looks good.

Brompton M3L Chainring

Hi,

The chain ring on my standard M3L Brompton is now ridiculously worn. I'm having to file the burrs off the teeth!

But its made as a single piece with the crank so will cost me nearly 60...

IMO it's never going to wear out through just folding the bike. I find the vibration from riding fast on London streets is enough to wear the paint off the spare batteries in my bag! Downside of...

Never dry the bike. Continuous use stops it rusting. It gets a scrub down before I have to maintain it - but only to keep me clean(er). Hinges are well oiled and still oily.

The clamps are...

I'm always using the seat post fully extended.
The problem seems to be caused by riding the Brompton rather than running or swimming - or the road bike. I tried a week on the tube. Knee...

Brompton Seat Height and Knee Pain

I use a Brompton daily for commuting. I've been using the fixed longer seatpost for the last year or so. Even so seat is lower than ideal. But then it's a folding bike! My tailor would say I...

I've been using my Brompton for daily commuting for nearly 18 months. Nothing strenuous - just 7 miles per day across London. So less than 2,500 miles.

I'm now having trouble finding...
