Good call on the spokes. Just start saving your pennies now, once you start popping spokes you can upgrade your wheels but until then just ride till they fall apart :)

My dad rides a full carbon ParkPre road bike @ 280+lbs...he's got just over 2500 miles on it. I'd say you'd be alright. That's a very nice bike at a very nice price...if you can get him to go lower...
