I've seen wheelsets for 5-7 speed thread-on freewheels on the bikeisland site. Anybody use them or know what they're about?

Form or function? Pop a threadless stem adapter, best of both worlds, able to raise the cockpit, easier to switch stems without having to unwrap the tape everytime, that is, if you like to fiddle...

Meh. There's something about a 14 and a 16. I have a compact on my modern bike, and the 11 and 15 never "felt" right. Likewise, a 14 and 16 on my regular crankset on the vintage feels proper....

Why do 7 Speed Cassettes have different gear ranges than 7 Speed Freewheels?

I just want a cassette that goes 14, 16,18-etc. instead of 12[or 13], 15, 17,19.

It's annoying.

Most durable alu Cross bike?

In your experience, which has been the most durable aluminum cross bike? Something that took its sweet time denting or cracking or preferably not at all.
