I would take it on the plane myself, half the handling I recon. I flew to HK and Saigon with my huge tour bike. The box was 9x 58x 30. I put the front wheel inside a separate box inside the big box....

My tour bike was 170+120 lbs, 45/55% I guess. 36mm Schwalbe Marathon Plus tires. NO flats or problems at all, Velocity Dyad rims. I even had no pressure gauge for 3000 miles.

Umm NO. Ergon etc rubber grips are made stupid. Mine also turned to a tarry goo. I never use creams.
On the other hand, my 1974 vinyl? plastic grips are as good as new.

The Harlan is the far better bike. The SA 3 spd hubs will never be bettered, capable city or highway. I have used the previous model SA 5w. When it is shifting proper, it rolls along just fabulously....

My Dyads have done 19,000 miles, many at 290 lbs GVW. Just the 2 wheels are 15 lbs.
