The fastest I've ever done (at least I'm aware of) is 42. Yes, there is a huge difference between 40 and 35. The wind drag is incredible. I can imagine what 50 is like! - Now I have to try it.

No big deal

It's no big hassle to glue the tubulars on. Get Zinn's Road Maintenance book and follow his advice. Also, using "Goo Gone" works great for cleaning up a few stray spots of glue.
