I go with medium fabric band aids and knuckle ones too. Antiseptic, anti bacteria gel, plus sting relief pads for yellow jackets. Usually a clean bandana plus duct tape, for really big cuts.

Full cable housings work well for me. Never had a any disc rotor issues freezing up, rim brakes just suck here in MA. Sand, salt, brown car snot, not good. At all. YRMV.

VMBT maybe be of help. Chapter pages have some maps. Delorme makes a good topo map book. Nat geo puts out some maps as well for the Green Mountain Nat forest areas.
