I'm thinking that the posture on a CX bike would be different. Would be a little bit more upright, wouldn't you?

If only I could afford it. I work a low-paying job, so a $1000 bike is a month's investment for me.

Deciding between two used CX bikes

So I've decided to get a used CX bike at my size, and found two bikes that fit me.

    One is a 2010 Cannondale CAAD9 Cyclocross at $1200.

The other is the 2009 Trek XO1 at $750.

    Both of them...

Here's the problem, and I'm going to be clear about this: I'm going over the ISO lists of available tire sizes, and that kind of tire isn't listed. The thinnest a retail 507mm tire can get is 1.5." ...

So basically what you're saying is that any bottom bracket assembly will fit in there?

I really don't have a crank planned out; I just wanted to know what kind of options I had available to me.
  9. Thinking of a new BB for my bike...what are my options?

I used the search function, but couldn't find any posts on bottom bracket compatibility, so here goes....

I have a road bike that uses a 68mm JIS BB. I've swapped it in and out with similar BBs...

    Different rim widths.

    Tire Sizing Systems

The ETRTO/ISO numbers 507 and 520 refer to 507mm and 520mm, which are the bead seat diameters of the rims. As Sheldon explains it, a 507 tire is too...

Stop overreacting: not being to find the exact model of tire that originally came with the bike, that's not Kona's fault. If it was, there would be no ETRTO 507 tires available, period, but there...

Now that is interesting: 24x1.25" isn't even a tire size. It's not ETRTO, and there's no sign of a 24x1 1/4" under 520. And the Locust is no longer listed on the Maxxis website, though I can find...

The idea was to lambast Kona for something they don't have any control over. Otherwise, he wouldn't have implied that the company ripped him off when his son's bike's tires were no longer usable. ...

Well, I never said I found a cross tire. I just looked for a tire that would fit. It's a cross bike, after all: versatility is its strength. But what the hell, let me take a look around.

If the OP was looking for support for some weird proprietary part like a Cervelo seatpost or a Lefty headshock, then yes, Kona should have lent a hand. But a list of available tires?

Yeah, that's the idea: shoot a semi-lowball price at the seller, wait for a response, decide whether or not it's worth it. Honestly, if I can't update the component set on the frame I'm not going to...
