It’s not matter of being in a big hurry. I ride in New Orleans and traffic and it dampens my speed than the firm shock absorber. It’s about efficiency. It is not that big of an effort.

I ride my Brompton at the same speed as my other bikes, or at least attempt to, it takes more effort, or it seems to. I have had other small wheel bikes in the past,...

Try Panaracer Pasela. The used 26x1.75 Paselas. Their suppleness gives them such a nice ride. Paselas are relatively inexpensive. 2" Schwalbe Kojaks are better than Apples but not nice as Paselas....

I have a couple of cheap ones, $15 with shipping from China, from eBay. They work well and allow me stay drier from perspiration than rain suits in steamy New Orleans.

For the train I think Brompton, only 6 speeds, on the slow side, and expensive, but it has a great fold and use a road bike for the full ride in. Brompton can do it all but that is what I do. Also...

I suspect that for a cheap performance tire, Primo Comets will perform better than Kojak in 16x349. I have not tried Kojak in that size.
