How do those wheels survive? I've seen this video many times, but it still amazes me.
Me thinks you bottle up all your annoyance and then vent it on the forum :D Let it out at the right place and spare the forums from the Burlington Acid Tongue (BAT™)!
I'd ride with studded tires, since that deals with a known danger. Cover known issues as best as you can - leaves your mind free for the unexpected situations.
Get good tires. The stock ones, if you still have them, are not very nice.
You need to watch better SciFi - try Farscape instead :P
If it is hard to allocate that much time for commuting, maybe you could reach a compromise. Can you leave your car and cycle at work? If yes, you could drive to work, cycle back, cycle to work, drive...
This thread is almost an ode to the Paselas. I have the regular Paselas (not TG or PT) and have been lucky so far - just one flat in more than a year, thorn in the side wall. I'm sure I've jinxed...
I voted strictly street, but that isn't entirely correct. There is a bike bridge over the freeway .. for which I am thankful. Crossing bridges with freeway ramps is not fun at all!
I can't think of anything. I probably annoy someone, but I don't know who or how. I ride in shorts/jeans with a high viz vest, panniers and fenders. Bicyclists overtake me and keep going, so I don't...
I can see how merging into the left turn lane would be difficult, but I don't understand the worries expressed about walking the cross walk. Isn't there a traffic light at that intersection to help...
Cut up the $5 Harbor Freight (or Ikea, as I discovered recently) vest and stitch it onto the backpack.
I'm easy on clothes too .. apart from shoes i.e.
3 years sounds good :)
I finally started wearing a hi-viz vest, and I am pleasantly surprised to realize that motorists are being more careful around me. I know - everyone here already knows that and I should have started...
You do sound obnoxious. Cyclists who run traffic lights bug me.
So, a thread about new bikes, and new bike stuff and no photos still. For shame ..
Checking in another bag might still be cheaper than parking :)
Why not take a light, single speed folder? Figure out a way to mount a bag that can fit the folded bicycle and your clothes.
I use a ~$25 electric pump that hooks up to my car's cigarette lighter outlet - works fine to pump up my tire to 90 psi. I lose a little air because the head isn't quick release .. but even my $15...
Just the video I needed to see as I head out to a boring meeting :)
But the technology already exists - its called a car. And because solutions that make bicycling attractive aren't common, most people use cars.
My friend bought the Motobecane Elite Trail - he loved it. It was a nice bike .. he only sold it because he was moving out of the country.
San Francisco already has cable cars, with cables running up the hill. Something like this could easily be done for the steeper hills without too much additional cost - in terms of material i.e. The...
FWIW, I bought the Mini 7 and I'm glad I did. Locking up with a 5 would have been tricky in some places.
What about a frame bag?
