We just completed a Vancouver to Calgary flight ... and our folding bikes are in suitcases. No charge this time because we are allowed 1 piece of checked luggage.
I have drop bars on my bicycle, but I rarely use them. Maybe on a long gradual descent ... occasionally to give me another position to sit in and stretch out a bit.
I feel exactly the same way about the Tasmanian hills (which BTW, run 10% and steeper).
1) 2-3 weeks is nothing. If you're still feeling like that after 2-3 months, then ask some questions.

Today we hiked to the top of one of the local mountains here in Canada with one of my cousins. Tough climb. Fantastic views. And then another hiker unfurled a massive Canadian...

No, it's not particularly a production for me.
I ride whenever I want to ride.
I have pretty much everything ready to roll at all times.

Cross-US has never interested me. I have thought about Cross-Canada a time or two, but I have just never been able to get up enough interest to do it.

Nice ... I guess all those 90 hour 1200K randonnees I've done should give me lots of extra time. :D
We did a bit of a hub-and-spoke style thing on Vancouver Island. Lots of walking + a little over 70 km of cycling. :)

I have entertained the idea of a cross-country tour a few times, but it just doesn't hold a strong appeal for me. Much more appealing is a tour where I go wherever the wind blows me. :) I don't mind...
