    Why not email American Classic?

I would expect they would have a swappable FH body and stay with a "generic" hub, but I'm not them.

When the tube was initially installed, one might not have made sure the valve was properly seated before applying full pressure.
Probably more likely on narrow rims.

Just get a Presta tube for a 27X1-1/4 tire. (630-32)
It'll stretch some, but work. It'll be better if marked up to 1-3/8".

People use 622-xx tubes in 27" tires all the time and that's 8mm larger...

Of course it varies with spoke count and crosses. Think a radial spoke would be difficult?

Besides, digital displays have their own accuracy percentage +/- 1 digit.
Worrying about 1/4% is absurd. Your tire diameter probably varies more than that due to pressure loss on a long ride.

    I see one weak link-
    "Shimano TZ31 14-34, 7 speed"
That's not a cassette, but a Free Wheel hub.
They are quite prone to bend axles.
    This will explain the difference.

Something to also keep in mind is your age.
    Older people aren't as "bendy".
Over bending the knee may exacerbate any knee problems you have or are going to run in to as you get older.

The OP didn't specify a NEW FDER being used.
It would be handy to know exactly which model is on the bike.
The fact it's a 7 speed kind of raises a question too.

I run 165's because I have a limited range of motion in one knee. It was a godsend for that purpose.

Look on the tire for a metric designation,
    That's where you would find a 590 or 597X38?mm
    Also look for EA3 or S6. (590 or 597mm)

You might also look at the rim near the valve hole.

Frankly, I'm pretty ignorant about road bike shifters, but-
I've heard talk that "some" have an extra "trim" position.
Does the shifter have more than 2 clicks going from the bottom to the top?
