I recently set up a bike with 700 x 32 Paselas (kevlar bead) on some Matrix rims I had previously used (with steel bead tires) with no trouble and no flats for a few years. The rear Pasela flatted...

If you are worried about your paint, you can line them with clear tape before installation.

I can't be very specific, but I would not hesitate to switch to the 1-1/8" size. I doubt you'll see any difference in speed, and will get a slightly more plush ride.

That's a fair description. As I said on another thread, both the colors are great, nice burgundy and metallic slate, excellent finish, etc. But they just don't seem to go together. Either one alone...

If it's really crusty, I will carefully go at it with a rounded paint scraper. Otherwise, I just apply glue over the old stuff. It seems to work fine; it's all I can do to get the tires off the rim...

Resurrecting an old thread. I've posted these elsewhere, but both of these recently acquired riders fit here, so what the heck. There must be some others out there. I can think of at least another...

+1 Just eyeballing it, it looks like about the right size for him.

It might be the case that he just doesn't like a drop bar bike at this point in his life. Bars could be changed to allow a more...

I get the twine; mine was more a general comment in response to Bandera.

You might get the right tone with amber shellac; if not, yellow tape with amber seems to work well.

    Looks great!

You probably know this already - you can shellac your white tape, but there's no such thing as white shellaced tape. Even the clear stuff will turn it yellowish. You might want to...

I think the Avocet Touring WII is the one you want, if you go that route. I just measured one and it's 178 mm at the widest part.

Maybe something like an Avocet Touring II?

[edit] never mind; probably not wide enough. About 165 mm.

^ It says measurement is the length of the seatpost. If they mean seat tube and it was measured from the top of the BB to the bottom of the top tube, that sounds about right.

I sold some used Mathauser brake pads recently for 2/3 of what I paid for the bike they came on; BIN listing that lasted only a few hours. So I think those are good, although to be accurate I don't...

The jury's out on the paint scheme. It's a beautiful finish, and each color is terrific. But I've decided that fades look best when they are more subtle, ie. monochromatic. But hey, it's in great...
