resistance is futile.
A few options for riding or bikepacking May 17-18.
Apologies in advance for anything redundant. I just got here and am catching up.
I'm pretty green, especially when it comes to horizontal dropouts. What, in particular, don't you like about...
Just make sure to take it all apart, apply grease, and put it back together well. Those look like a hoot. And at the price of a tire, who can resist?
Glad you got out there! Keep up the good work. We have a few month until it gets hot again... :)
The bad pavement I am aware of is not at the Farmersville end, but rather the asphalt paved sections near Celeste. Of course, everyhting is subject to change. Asphalt can't handle the expansion and...
Best wishes and Merry Christmas to you, Sarge!
Last Friday I rode 39.4 miles from Ladonia to Celeste and back. Here is my story.
I pulled into the Ladonia Lodge and unloaded my bike. The drive up had been good, and I felt ready to have a...
Planning on riding again in a couple of weeks. Reply here if you are interested.
Oh, thanks. I really like the new...
ride report, fwiw:
I had a good time with the whole adventure. I left here around noon Thursday and headed up toward Greenville. I got some last-minute supplies there, had a delicious meal at...
HA ha haaaa!
There was a big thread on this a few months ago. It's pretty wild what these water-based solvents/cleaners will do to a chain. Hopefully someone will post the link.
maybe be more careful? seriously though, if you are concerned, don't worry about getting small amounts of petroleum on the ground. bacteria in the soil will happily eat anything.
Looks like a fun place to stay after a day of riding.
Makes perfect sense to me.
Nothing! I'm just SAYING it. :D
I like the packed gravel. I was just thinking that maybe the decomposed granite would be more weed-resistant, but I could be wrong. Mainly, I don't want anyone...
I guess this goes back to my question of "what could 5 or 6 motivated people do in a day". As long as there are plentiful tire-killing thorns, it's going to be tough to get normal people out on the...
Soooo, what would it take to fix this? Is there a section of trail that is a 5-mile honey locust thicket? Or is it a few clumps along the trail?
ooooo, bad juju.
As was said, I tore off my rear deraillleur and didn't get to finish, but I really had a good time. The trail is so close to being a really great weekend trip for even average family riders.
Still planning on making it. I rode over 60 miles, about half of it unpaved, on Saturday, so I'm feeling like I can survive this.
C'mon, take a vacation day. It'll be fun, and you won't miss the...
Whew, I was starting to think I was the only one going on the trip who couldn't do 100 miles in 100 deg weather. :)
Thanks so much for doing this, Jtgyk.
Great story! Glad to have you here! Best wishes to you and the young'un.
Okay, it looks like I am in.
I will be in Ladonia on Thursday night, so I would be able to cache some stuff on the trail there if we wanted to.
As much as I love the idea of riding all the...
Great idea. Trying to figure out how to be in Farmersville at 6:30 am without spending much money. Even if you guys drop me, I bet I can be at Roxton in time to make an appearance. A SAG back to...
Sorry for getting the miles wrong. Sounds pretty cool. Keep us posted.
