This one is really good for the price: http://www.leevalley.com/en/garden/page.aspx?p=67613&cat=2,40733,40734,67613
Picked this up last weekend - 1994 KHS Montana Comp. Mostly original; I changed the saddle, tires, stem, and grips. The frame, made with True Temper AVR tubes, weighed in at 4.45 lbs. That makes...
They are 1.8" Kenda Dred Tread folding tires.
These conversions are fun. Here's my second attempt. I used Sora brifters, and 105 triple crankset with the large ring removed (it interfered with the Ubrake). I like this one better than the...
The 94 catalogue says it came in black or team red. http://www.retrobike.co.uk/gallery2/d/15626-2/Spec_Bikes94_Mini.pdf
So was this technique not used by other bike makers because it's harder to do?
There are no welding beads at the joints. Each tube joins cleanly with its mating tube.
It's a very clean look. Why aren't more frames joined this way?
The frame is a re-powdercoated Look...
The stem is a Kalloy AL-222. The tires are Kenda Kwest 26x1.5.
For this conversion, I used parts I had lying around, so didn't cost me anything. Oh, except for the cotton bar...
Just did this Bianchi Grizzly conversion this weekend:
Here is my 618 with Shimano 105 cranks and octalink bb, I had on there temporarily. It worked fine. I now have the original Suntour cranks on it.
I have had success this way - Secure one crank arm in a bench vise. Put a steel pipe (about 3' long) over the other crank, and rock it back and forth.
This guy didn't:
I would have preferred the black and gold. It would make it a lot easier to cover up the scratches. Mine didn't come with the gum covers, either. And the headset is unbranded. I really like the...
Oh cool, that's good to know. Thanks again, T-Mar. I guess I did o.k. for $110.00.
It would be nice if I can find a matching paint colour to touch up the frame.
Yeah, I think you are right, T-Mar. The frame does appear to be well made, if not a little on the heavy side. The damage is only cosmetic. And for the short period I was on it (about a five mile...
I haven't fully made up my mind whether to rebuild using the same frame, or wait to find a nicer frame.
Picked up a Norco Magnum SE at a pawn shop last weekend. I had seen it there before, a few weeks ago; but didn't pay any attention to it because I'm more into mountain bikes than road bikes. This...
Wanna sell it?
He's working at Dr. Jamie's, too. Saw him there yesterday. Tried to ask him what happened to all his former inventory, but he wasn't interested (understandably) in talking about it. But he didn't...
Just picked up your bike's twin - an '86 Procaliber. Looks like it's the exact same frame - Tange Prestige.
The only parts that are original on mine are the cranks and rear wheel. It has a...
They are having an auction this Monday for the entire contents of the store. You have to buy the whole lot. Would love to know what it goes for. He had a lot of nice vintage bikes and parts.
