That jump between 4 & 5 is absurd IMO.

It's sounding like the bike is too small. You didn't specify any sizes for the bike or you.
My hybrid is too small and I had the seat post right at the minimum insertion mark. I wasn't comfortable...
I think IF you get the spokes properly tensioned and "ride easy" until you shed 30 lbs. or so, they should hold up.
Worst case, down the road, you replace a rear wheel or respoke it.
You would probably be better off going to a 7.2FX.
Swapping a fork really isn't cost worthy, since you have to get a suspension corrected fork.
The 7.2FX is an 8 speed. I'd rather have the extra...
You used your 2nd post in 9 years to revive a 3 year old thread?
The way I set my seat height is-
Get moving on the bike-
Put HEELS on pedals.
Adjust upmost so that you can pedal just barely without rocking the hips.
Add 1/8" for each shoe size over 9.
Do the "clamping surfaces" on both sides have serrations to "bite" into the frame and prevent slippage?
Did you finish with the alcohol flush? It absorbs water.
Schwinn is 597MM.
That 7mm * PI is about 22mm or nearly an inch (25.4mm) in circumference different.
Buy with price in mind.
I use the HG-50's since they are relatively cheap. I have bought several different combinations and swap cogs around at times to "custom gear" them for some uses. Most times,...
I WENT to the Shimano website!
It supports 30T of chain wrap.
If exposed to salt water, you want to disassemble it and flush with HOT (or at least warm) water ASAP!!!!!!!
Salt water and circuit boards don't mix.
You are in SAVE MODE!
After flushing WELL,...
"On my shimano 2300 8 speed gear set I replaced the chain after it started slipping."
Maybe, since the RD-2300 spec's a max 26T cog size, a 34T cog just MIGHT be causing problems?
Typically one has the opposite problem with holes being on the "sloppy" side.
IF this is a front wheel, I think I'd "embrace it" and use some 15/16 DB spokes.
If a rear, 15 straight on the DS and...
Likely, you can go as small as 25mm on that rim if you want.
My hybrid came equipped with 35mmand I even went as low as 23mm, but thought that was pushing things a bit since the rim was very...
Expect 60-70% of the DS tension on the NDS.
Sometimes, you'll even be outside that, depending on the hub, drop out spacing & number of speeds.
Not sure why you would like a wheel that ends up cracking?
A new rim cost is kind of like asking how much does a new car cost?
You can get a good "meat & potatoes" type rim such as a Sun Rims...
Whatever bike you get, have the shop TENSION the spokes as part of the deal.
This will make whatever wheels you get last loner. maybe as long as "normal".
A 10mm X1mm is close to a 3/8" x 26.
I've found that when switching to a nutted axle, the cones & lock nuts from the QR axle screw on.
The reverse is not true.
So, you can pick your option and...
If just the axle is bad, you don't need the cones etc.
Your LBS should have one for less $ than your link. Especially after you add S&H.
Just take the bare axle with you. Take one of the nuts and...
There is typically a thin mold line on the tire about 5mm or so from the rim bead.
Examine that to see that it is concentric with the rim.
IF not, you need to take more care in seating the tire....
I'd say it is.
It doesn't make sense that in a matter of a mile that a cassette would go from "fine" to slipping the chain.
The link you posted says the Finishline is synthetic-
When in doubt about grease compatibility, clean out the old grease.
did you measure in 2 or more directions? It can easily be ovalized a few 0.1mm's.
My LBS has something like 19 different size seat posts in 0.2mm increments.
You can see it, we can't-
Flip the bike upside down and spin the wheel.
Observe the distance between the rim and brake pads as a "reference".
Ditto with the tire & pads.
My guess is a poorly...
