I can't be a casual bike racer. I either do stuff all out or don't do it at all. Just my personality. Trying to find a happy median and just enjoy riding right now after stopping racing, but having a...

I'd be more worried about getting to the race on time at all. 10-15 mins is almost no buffer room. I don't think I can even get the stuff out of my car, register/pick up stuff, and pin my jersey in...

I prefer setting zones based on interval values, it tends to be a bit more realistic. You can see trends/patterns more easily if you do intervals routinely.

80 degrees and sunny forecasted today. Guess I should hop on the steed and enjoy it.

But the bed feels so nice. *yawwwwwwwwnnnnnnnnnnnn*

They were that picky about it? They let me upgrade with 29.

edit: actually looked it up, and they rejected me with 29 and I ended up getting 4 more points the next race. /shrug. I kind of believe...

The 1.5% overall difference to me, is not worrisome. I'd consider that within spec.

On the up to 10% difference, I would also trust the powertap over the quarq based on my personal experience....

I've always said it's more dangerous to ride during the day than at night. I'm lite up like a Christmas tree at night. During the day, I can very easily blend into the surroundings at times.

I've never had to use a flashy on the front either. My Niterider does just fine because of it being so bright, but I mount it on the top of my bars. I point it enough at the road that I can see ahead...

It kind of depends on what your base looks like and how quickly your body can adapt. Everyone is different.

I've been "off" the bike for about 7 months now, only riding about once every other...

Lol. I honestly don't even know how someone could do that, do they just totally ignore people's races, and lives, and stuff that comes up? I swear it'd be more work to try and have the same schedule...

I think it's more up to the rider to decide if they want to ride indoors or out. I feel like outdoor riding is more important, however a lot of people have to stick indoors or cross train to make it...

It's all about in vs out calories. Track your calories, and either eat more or eat less depending on if you want to gain/lose. Doesn't matter if you are riding or not, just helps put more on the burn...

My family had squirrels in the attic one time when I was growing up. My dad read on the internet that moth balls apparently will drive the squirrels away. So instead of doing the intelligent thing...

Lol, that sounds like something that would be in a movie. Not funny at the time I'm sure, but I bet you laugh looking back.

    Back to shoes:

I've been needing to get some real dress shoes for work for some time now. Think I'm gonna pick up some Allen Edmonds this weekend that will be my main pair and hopefully last me...

Shiz got real in this thread today.

As for Battenkill, wish the hillier version was last year. But I really can't imagine it as my legs were 150% done. Last year's race was the hardest race I've...

I've bought two pairs of running shoes lately trying to fix my stupid legs while running. My legs around my ankles, sorta shins, sorta calves, like get really really sore like lactic acid build up,...

Pretty long time down a mountain.

I've had two crashes since I've been racing. One was because of a touched wheel when I was a cat 5. Though it was during training on a team ride. Really...

I don't think most people know this but I started racing at 13. I only did 1 race though and mostly rode with my dad around 20 miles. Wasn't very serious and transitioned to running for HS sport.

But I set a new 5s watt PR. Almost 1200 watts. Up about 300w from a year ago, lol. Also up about 25lbs. :P
