    Gatorskin question

I run regular Gatorskins as fair weather commuter tires and Hardshells on tours for the extra sidewall protection. The difference in ride feel is negligible in my opinion.

Average budget to tour Trans Am?

The main costs for me are food from supermarkets and staying at campsites when not wild camping.

I eat fairly basically: oats, bananas, pb-sandwiches, beans and rice, drink just water.
    Actually,...

Is this a proper locking method?

    That's a pretty looking bike.
How long are you leaving it? Just while in a shop, or longer. Hopefully not overnight?
Parts theft is unfortunately all too common :(

    Actually true :)

Stock pedals on a 5-speed Monark bike. I just strapped my small rucksack, sleeping bag and guitar onto the rear rack and took off.
Preceding this I had been on the road for six...

What do you wear while touring?

Cotton t-shirt with arms cut off, nylon running shorts, regular cotton underpants, cotton socks and running shoes.
Same gear I'd go running in.

I've tested modern alternatives, but still prefer...

Just one pair of shoes :)
  15. Is it asking too much, or just a matter of conditioning?

Headwinds will suck it out of you. I don't battle them, just relax and Ślod on.
If you open your mouth all that headwind oxygen will pressure flow into your lungs! :D (well that's what I tell myself...

If it's legal I don't give two hoots if it's "socially acceptable".
