  1. yay!

I'm glad it's better. I don't claim to be a proficient mechanic, just an observant critical-thinker. It sounds to me like you're on a good road. One other thing I thought of regarding your hyperglide...

The cool thing about a triple is that you can stick a 14-28, 13-32 fw on there if you ever want to and have touring/mountain gears, or run a straight block and have 40 to 100 gear...

I'm currently running a campy mirage road triple(52/42/30) with a friction shift double FD. It's a Suntour Edge from 1988/1989. The crank, as installed has a 49.8mm chainline. I've got room for a 4th...

At any rate, I ordered a new chain and an extra connecting link just to have around. I'll look into that Z8, too....

I would wd40 any point where exposed cable makes a transition, like under the bottom bracket. That's what I had to do with mine. You may just have a cable hanging up a little, then releasing sometime...

Heard that. I'm loving the corncob. It's a new old stock sachs maillard 12-18(7 speed). I'm running a campagnolo mirage triple 52/42/30 with it, so it's like the 14-28 with a standard double wrt...

Thanks, FB. I looked over the kmc site, and I still couldn't tell if the z51 was peened or not(it looks like it is). I don't shift aggressively, but I'm gonna get a missing link anyway.

    Lengthen 7/ 8 Speed Chain-KMC Z51

KMC Z51 "narrow" 7/8 speed chain.

Narrow meaning pin length is 7.1 mm vs 7.3mm on the old Z50.

I'd like to lengthen the chain to accept a wider range freewheel.

Must I use a missing link?...

Repacking Hubs Without a Cone Wrench

    Howdy, folks.

I just took my wheels apart, (the cones were too tight), added some grease, and reassembled everything.

I only loosened one side, but I don't have a cone wrench to tighten the...

Thanks for the input. Of course, the Sunrace is also a wide-range freewheel, not a corncob. I wonder, though about them and the DNPs.

You are probably right. I know I don't have the power to accelerate to 50mph. I just threw that out there because it's been tossed around. At this point, I don't really need more than 52-14.
