Brakes before fork?
1.Fork / HS.
3. Standard build
Would appreciate any suggestions. Looking to flip a boy's Trek MT240, but need to replace front fork. Have seen it for around $70. Any others?
Nice job on the overhaul. Bet you may get a little more than $30 - well worth the investment.
Who buys multiple bikes, bikes that are projects? People like me.
I often buy pairs of bikes, or even larger groups. The reason? I get a nice discount. The last pair I bought were for sale for $75...
I have been lucky with 3-speeds also. Only thing is that it takes a little time for the right person to see them and come get them. i sold my next to last one last week. A college student bought it...
Never heard that before - DKO - Now I know.
That has to be one of the cleanest "second-hand bikes" I have ever seen. Nice job,
Two quick questions: 1) DKO style? 2) Where can you get cables and housings in bulk? Internet?
Regardless of whether you send $50 on tune-up, would not suggest a mountain bike (using the term loosely) for a 60 mile ride. Touring or road bike much more suitable.
I would not cross over. But if I did, I would add cable housing to reduce friction. I think there will eventually be wear on the inner wire. JMHO.
What else you pulling out of there? Looks like some type MTB with bent rim.
Top picture is correct way.
I had a GT frame that had a dent about the size of a penny on the top tube. Took it to a friend who works at auto service department and one of his guys get the dent out.
^^^^^ that and beat up Roadmasters that people want $50 for.
No, unless you change shifters.
Have to agree with everyone else. You can use it to learn basic bike mechanics, just remember that it is a cheap bike and keeping it adjusted will be a task in itself. It will be ok to learn on,...
You can soak them in 92% alcohol, then use toothbrush to clean. Add grease, re-install and you are ready to go.
I have been flipping for a few years now. If I took a look at the amount of time I spend on repairing or replacing parts, I would go broke. i usually tear a bike totally down and rebuild, unless it...
Multi tool due to space limitations.
Thanks. The splines are really stripped out bad. Picked it up at a junk yard .... so there you go. I did notice that the nds did look like plastic. Chipping it out will take time, but seems like the...
No, I have not been able to get either side off. It does have the bearings in a cartridge. I think that if I can get the drive side off that the cartridge will come our and I can then use a lube to...
I am trying to remove the encased barring from a mid 80"s Trek 820. The threads are stripped on drive side, so my wrench just slips when I put any pressure on it. Any suggestions on how to remove, or...
Very good pick-up. A 520 was my first road bike. To answer your question about the steer tube being red, I think it is factory because mine was too. Enjoy!
