Really strong week, Fudgy!
Not on my internet connection. 1.5 mbps, and that's the fastest I can get in this area.
I'm sitting here at my computer and it's about 55 out, clear skies, no wind, and the closest I can get to riding is following the text updates from Amstel Gold. #codgerswhowhineaboutbrokenbones
Yeah, and you'll spend the rest of the week whining about how fat you are. Kids...
Happy birthday, John!
As I was lining up for my big (103 mile) RR last month, I saw the crew from the organizer filling up the neutral water bottles...from the spigot the race hotel used to water the lawn. Hey, it was...
Way to go valygrl and shovel!
Nah. Tell everyone it's a planned "tactical pause."
Thank goodness it's too small. It'd look great next to my 585.
I'm dealing with that too right now. Don't get too crazy cutting back calories, from what I've read your body uses a good chunk of them to rebuild broken bones. I have no idea how many calories it...
Tom Boonen being one of them. I've got a white Regal on my steel bike, and I'm going to take the Selle Italia Turbomatic gel saddle off my Look 585 (the gel apparently died) and replace it with a...
There must be something wrong with mine...it doesn't creak.
ovoleg - Bummer! Best wishes for a quick and full recovery - like others have said, don't be a dumbass and push it faster than you need to. The races will be there when you're healed.
Bill - Recovery should be done in Z1. For context, I usually average ~100 bpm and 14 mph. That's what I mean when I say you should be going so slow you feel guilty.
Bill - Sorry, I just had to get that out of the way. I'm 62, started racing last year.
valygrl poses good questions. If you've just started cycling, then doing intervals will leave...
Frameset or complete bike? If the former, pickings are pretty slim to my knowledge. If the latter, I think that the aluminum versions of the Trek Domane and the Cannondale Synapse come with fender...
How to Speed Fracture Healing
I read through this, sounds pretty good.
My steel bike is my "sunny day" bike. I do ride in the rain, but on either aluminum (usually) or carbon.
LAJ - An old guy with opinions? Say it ain't so! :)
Dalai - The fact that you had to "firmly request" an xray and the doctor wanted to just put a sling on it argues strongly for a second opinion....
VeloNews article about his passing.
I feel your pain, literally. I broke mine two weeks ago, but mine was considerably messier than yours and required surgery and a plate. I'd wait a while before I did anything that might put...
shovel - The president of the local association (LAMBRA) has a RA of 62. He's also part of the club in NOLA that I belonged to last year. I asked him when he had started racing, and he told me it...
And if you have a cadence/speed sensor, make sure you didn't nudge it over just enough to tick against the spokes the last time you washed your bike. Don't ask me how I know this.
jmikami - great report and result!
Give him a break, it's Oregon.
