If you're doing 30's that hard, you're doing AC work. Typical is the key word here as most everyone who trains with power goes by the zones established by Allen/Coggan.

I guess it's fine if you keep the same testing protocol each time. I'd never try to PR all those durations within the same hour session though. In fact, there's no way I could.

You can't average like that. Like I said, I can do 200% of ftp for only 1' but I can do 100% for an hour. Hell, I can do 400% but for only 5". It doesn't average the way you're thinking.

Don't know how you draw that conclusion. My 1' is 200% of ftp so that interval would be taxing but not impossible. You'd need a couple of minutes rest after each one though.

Well, if you're doing a % of ftp the intensity would go up as your ftp improves. 85% one week might be 250 but two weeks later could be 255, etc.

Why would you only do 3' @85% of ftp? Why would you need any recovery from that? 85% is more in the SST range that someone would for ~60'.
