52mm Wheel depth - valve length?

Would a 60mm (valve length) tubes be viable with a 52mm depth wheel? Too short?

Go to 80mm to avoid using valve extenders?

Iban Mayo TdF 2004 - top notch climber and it was all for naught because he lost too much time in a crash on a very similar stage so his climbing abilities couldn't make up the...

Silence-Lotto was much weaker! BMC does not have a deep bench of grand tour riders. I'd rather see Hincapie win a stage more than anything.

Hopefully no one steps on Cadel's dog this year or...

Anyone been up lately? Is the auto road to the top open? If any one has, a conditions report would be appreciated. Thanks.
