More train please.
Panaracer T-Serv. Great combination of grip, flat resistance and decent performance. Not sure if they come in reflective sidewalls though.
Out of 9 sets of Contis, I had 5 measure smaller, 2 dead on and 2 were actually larger than advertised.
Good idea. I started making a spreadsheet of rim/tire combos and their width. I'm not sure what to do with it now but the results are interesting. I'm trying to figure out how to best share this info.
Maybe if they keep repeating the same points from the last 20 identical threads, someone will magically change their opinion.
Monthly train wreck, all aboard!!!!!
Frustrating. Honestly, I am going to start buying Panaracers because in my experience, they generally measure within .5mm to 1mm as advertised. I just really wanted a file pattern tread on this bike...
I understand that, but here we are dealing with the same manufacturer and the same rims. I guess I expected too much.
Uh, I'm not sure what you are trying to say. I am just curious as to why 2 tires that are marked with the same size from the same manufacturer are considerably different size when mounted on the same...
I am in the process of rebuilding one of my commuters and purchased a new set of Continental SportContact 700X37 tires. They are replacing Continental Top Touring 700x37. The old tires measure 31mm...
I use a pair that I bought on the RUSA website. They are made out of a reflective material.
What is with the braze-on derailleur? I don't have an 84 but my 83ST and 85ST both have clamp on front derailleurs.
"Sensibly sized tires" is a subjective statement. Tire width is also very subjective, what is "wide" for a 150 pound rider is narrow for a 250 pound rider. Many times these wide vs narrow debates...
+1, pictures are the best tool for figuring out what you have.
You could go with shorter fenders and add a mudflap to get the desired coverage.
Cascadias are a bit longer.
I'll have to try that.
They look nice, but then I would have to explain to my wife why I was putting $120 fenders on my $50 bike.
The JJ in downtown Lexington delivers on a bike.
For the best water protection, I would recommend SKS Longboards. The only downside is the front fender is so long it can potentially get caught when going over obstacles. I also like the SKS...
Interesting, I didn't know that is how they measured bike tires, I always just use a set of calipers on an inflated tire. That would definitely explain such variances. A couple of my other bikes run...
Thanks for the replies. From what I understand, this size difference is fairly common for Conti tires-especially the bigger sizes. The Top Touring tire hasn't been made for a few years and i am...
My main summer and winter commuters both run platforms. My "fun" commuter has platforms with MKS mini clips.
I was wondering if anybody is using Conti SportContact in 622x37 would mind measuring the actual width of the tire when mounted. The reason I ask is I am currently running an old set of Conti Top...
I just wish they would call them what they measure:559, 584, 622, 630 etc.
