He runs a motorpaced madison practice every sunday in LA now-- he's a great instructor for madison and manages to help get a lot of inexperienced people safely up to speed in how it works.

I'd think finish would be easiest, since it's white-black-white (high contrast) and there's only one of them. With pursuit you don't know which one you're at.

    That was fast!!

As far as bluetooth-- don't use BLE, it's useful for trackers like tile where you want the battery to last a year, but you don't need that. Crank up the power as much as you can! ...

I was thinking to leave the phone or ipad on the apron, but bluetooth is even better!

Probably not too hard to do as an arduino project.

The "Mybikeinfo" app is where I got the idea for measurements. It's basically an app for cataloging your bikes down to the smallest detail.

For the pursuit timer, if there's enough screen you...

A few were mentioned in the other thread:

    - UCI countdown timer (especially if you were doing iPad, too-- you could put lights and a clock on it)
    - pursuit schedule calculator that lets you put...

If you're mostly an endurance rider (which might include someone who's a road sprinter), road bars are generally fine, but you might...

In response to the question about whether you can put nitrogen or helium in tires in the now closed thread (I read through this one and didn't see it addressed):

Yes, you can put nitrogen and...

    That's very cool video.

We tried making similar videos a few years ago at encino when the oregon scientific cameras first came out. The quality wasn't nearly as good and had some strange...

A bit of a late comment (I haven't been that active on the track lately), but it's nothing new and it applies as much to USAC as to UCI.

An example at the USAC level is in board elections--...

Back in the quill stem days people just had a second bar/stem set (e.g. to switch from mass start to TTs), so changing bars was no harder than it is now. That said, despite the availability of...

Rode it all the way to the ski lifts today - it's cleared, and the lodge is open for business.

They were clearing some stuff off the climb back out of the village down to GRR on Monday when we...

We rode up 39 to the 2 today, and then down via the 2. The good news is that Caltrans has done a great job of clearing all the way through. There are a number of long sections where it looks like...

I saw some pics on facebook of the closed section after the rain & mudslides and it was pretty well covered. I haven't seen any followup about it being cleaned, but will probably check it out in the...

Most 6-day riders provide their own bikes. Some top ones probably have their own bike sponsors, but I've also seen road pros riding a mix of track bikes, all with the brand name taped over because...

I was just a walk in. They're a bit out of the way for me and I only go there infrequently. I ended up buying a used BMC from a former teammate's relative who had too many bikes.

    And as mentioned...

I've done it in August. In some ways it's better than in December- there's zero chance of pouring rain (done that several times) and you certainly won't freeze. You can do it early in the morning,...

If you've ridden a lot in the past you'll probably be able to tell how a bike is going to ride in the long run with just a couple miles of test ride. I was road bike shopping about a year and a half...

    Big climbs

Start at Encanto--go to Dawson--then down to the East fork, up Little GMR, to the Village or the ski lifts, and then down GMR back to Encanto.
