Some fine looking scoots there, thanks for the links. I really like the tank on the second one. If I motorize my bike I'd like something similar, rather than those cheezy belt line seamed footballs that come with the kit.

This is my current commuter / cruiser . It's very hard to buy the khs cruisers in aus ..I built the rack out of an old sissy bar and another bike frame , the box itself is some old wood I had laying around and it's been stained with some I have had sitting in the shed for years .it used to have chopper forks and hangers on it originally but I reckon it looks better like this ( and rides better ) the bars are off a 50's commuter and need to be rechromed .

Mate, everything is hard to find over here. Nice cruiser though. We just got a pair of Electras - the Jester and Rosie. Hardly alt-bikes, but certainly a change from our mountain bikes.
Yes I have a friend with a Electra rat fink , you can get Electra's from every second bike shop now .If you find a shop that sells KHS cruisers let me know please .
And I thought it was alt compared to what everyone else rides around in Brissie ?

Even at Newcastle beach, we haven't seen anyone else on an Electra. Go figure. Our tandem is alt compared to what we see in Newcastle. 18kg of titanium goodness.

It started as a 70s viscount road bike--Viscount used an odd BB so first thing I did was cut open the BB and add a new one.Then I cut and filed off all those little tabs brazed on to road bikes for gear wire and brake cables.Next I cut out the rear bridge and brazed in a new one after fitting the fixed hub in the frame.The fork took some work ---took two forks to make one--shortened the fork legs 1" and added the bosses for V-brakes.Sanded it all bare then used black epoxy primer--dark pine green metalic top coat with a golden brown head & spir point and seat panel.Takes a lot of work to make a bike look like you did nuttin to it! Oh yea--the name was silver leafed and shadowed with blue.One of these days I just gotta build a chopper.---sam

My 'beater' bike. An old Hyper BMX that started its life with me as a peice of shat I found sitting propped against a dryer at the dump. I brought it home and stripped the whole frame of parts and paint. I then primered it and followed up with two coats of periwinkle and two coats of clear for protection. I than painted a older bomber alloy fork I had lying around to match and added a alchemy threadless headset. I cleaned all the parts and put them back. Since the picture in the attatchment I added a alex 48hole rear rim and freewheel with rush brakes. I also added some hyper BMX stickers.
Also, those who think the bike is just for show, I also dirtjump it to.

no pics but a quick laugh when i was young many years ago i wanted cowhorn handle bars but we had no money for such things.
as i was young bright ideas flowed from me so i turned my old bars so the ends pointed up, pushed 12in of copper pipe in each end wow did they look cool.
came to my first kerb and as we know when you ride up kerbs you lift the front of your bike but with my system you go over the handle bars with a lengh of copper pipe in each hand.
Owch! Hope you didn't core sample your thighs with that copper pipe!
Check this out... a 2 speed. Pedal forward for low and backward for high! And an over-under tandem!

Redvirus, that is killer. Is it a solid caster on the front wheel? Between the solid wheel and the pedal ground clearance, you must wheelie that bike as much as possible.
that solid wheel is an old wheel from a goped that we kinda riggged on there.
This is the '89 Civc/ '68 Honda dirtbike/ trek 1200/ drafting table/ other stuff we found in the trash. You can see more at o2fc.com

Here's a chopper I built up this summer:
Features:
-21 speed Shimano DX componentry
-2.2" flame slick on the back
-2.2" bmx ramp slick on the front
-Custom Fork/stem combo made by me at the Pedal Play shop
-custom dual lever rear V-brake
-layback post with adapter shim
-pilsner holder
-hidden stash pipe
-lots of black paint.
I think it turned out pretty well for my first 'chopper'.
Its really fun to ride, going super slow its nice and stable, and at speed its the same.
The turning circle is pretty small if you plant your foot down too.
