Triple tree forks?

Anyone know where to buy a reasonably priced triple-tree style headset/fork for bikes?

Alternatively, anyone know of a good way to make one? I'm thinking of using the top cup, bearing and race from two threadless headsets, and putting one on the top, and one on the bottom. Then your three-hole bracket would fit onto the top and bottom of a piece of tubing sent through the headsets, and would be held on with star-fangled nuts on both the top and bottom, each tightened down to set the bearings and hold the brackets on. Then your fork tubes would come up and attach to each bracket on the top and bottom of the head tube...

Shouldn't be too hard as long as you can fabricate the brackets, and it would give your fork a lot of extra strength. Any ideas?

what!? a triple tree, i dont think any one makes that, all forks have 2 trees exsept for the lefty forks which have 1. you may be thinking of tripple clamp... or dual crown maybe

kona chopper fork scroll down a little.its way longer then most I have found and I dont think its cheap at $100, but its long and has disk mounts that I think are kinda cool

I think its just a nomenclature thing.. In the motorcycle world that type of fork is indeed called a 'triple tree', though it may have different names in the bicycle world. At least you know what I'm talking about.

I see the dual crowns on ebay once in a while, and pretty cheap. I'd just buy the crowns, then fit some tubing of the appropriate size. You could also cut some mild steel plate for uppers and lowers.

Whew, those phatcycles forks are cool, but SPENDY! 300+$! But they do come with disc tabs and drum brake tabs..

I'm thinking more and more that I'm just going to make my own.. Straight cromoly tube isn't expensive, and I could either get it chromed, or just paint it.
