I'm thinking of doing this, I have all the parts but the bloody frame <grumble> I think I found one in a old scrap yard and i'm phoning tomorow to ask. It will be a very clean bike, mostly stock but with a big-boa tire, i'm putting a springer front end on with a 16 inch front tire, larger (taller) sissy bar, which will of course have to be widened by the chain/wheel stays. Stock schwinn 'nanner seat (when I find one) possible 22 inch apehanger's but might go 18'. I'm gonna keep the musle shifter on it for asthetic purposes even though it wont be functional (i'll keep the cable on it and hide it near the rear casset so it looks sort of fuctional). But i'm really stuck on paint, i'm gonna do it myself and I have painted many bikes before so I know it will turn out decentm but what color, I dont really want black, I was actually thinking candy purple or dark cherry red, but those are very hard colors to do right. can you give me any suggestions on build advice, how you think it will look with a big tire, maybe help a pal out and photochop one? what would you also add to the bike, I have never seen one of these frames up close and ridden one. Around here its just choppers and I want something different.
Color suggestions - spray some gold base, then the brightest orange you can find over it. If you've got access to a welder, cut the frame so you can slacken the head angle, and go with a 24" or 26" skinny up front, for a laid back chopper look.
I'm gonna keep the frame stock other than re-working the chain/wheel stays for the tire. all we have here are choppers and I want something different than a chopper, just a nice clean ride.
