Just heard an interview on the radio
    (CBC's Basic Black http://radio.cbc.ca/programs/basic_b...s/current.html)
with a woman who is cycling solo from Alaska to Argentina, although she did hook up with
others for some sections at least. She's made it to San Salvador, which is halfway, 12,500 kms.

She is stopping to recover from surgery, due to a broken collarbone, involving bone grafts, plates, screws etc.
She apparently did the last 1000 km's with the collar bone broken, before going back to
    Quebec City for the surgery.

She's doing this to help the Children's Wish Foundation, and has so far raised over $10,000.00.

You can get more info from Chrystine's website at http://www.novanor.qc.ca/desc-ame/en/index.html

My girlfreinds family friend road from the tip of chile to alaska alone. No media coverage, no charity, nothing. He did it for himself and for an experience. Very awesome.

When I rode from vancouver to san diego, I ran into an Argentine couple who were doing that trip in reverse. I ran into them in Oregon and they were a little over a year into the trip. they were well-weathered to say the least. what an amazing journey.
