    Boring diet

I have a confession. For several years now, I have had a boring diet. Of course, I eat lots of interesting things to round off my nutrition, like broccoli, cauliflower, tomatoes, potatoes, rice and beans, chili, chicken, tuna fish, and countless others.

But my breakfast/lunch/snacks between 5 am and 6 pm are almost always: natural peanut butter, whole wheat bread, skim milk, carrots, apples and orange juice. I'm not tired of it, in fact, I really love it.

I just can't figure out why. Am I becoming like Rich, a "part time vegetarian?"

What else would Big Bird eat anyway?

I snack on raisins, frosted shredded wheat, peanut butter and crackers, sunflower seeds, etc. And I drink LOTS of water. Usually during the day, I add a dash of lemon juice to the water.

And, lest anyone think I'm a health food nut, (berry, vegetable)?... I drink two cups of coffee every morning, whether I need it or not! ( I NEEEEED it!)
    Recumbents rock!

I became a vegetarian 5 +yrs ago mostly because the only time I ate meat it involved the Golden Arches. Other than that I never ate meat, never had it in the house. I guess I am just one of the few that just don't like meat. I would much rather have pasta or Mexican food...meat seems too boring. Vegetarianism forces one to be creative and actually make meals, not just grilling a piece of meat.

    Servus!

Badger, Pete, you two would eat well at my house! I love to eat (yeah, it shows:thumbdn: ) and I always prefer a well cooked with all of the appropriate trimmings to eating out.

Steele - you, sir, are a cruel and horrible man! The one thing I CANNOT get here in Germany is good Mexican food. In fact, I almost can't get ANY Mexican food. The Army posts have recently gotten Taco Bell chains. I wept with joy at the taste of a Burrito Supreme that was not made with Swiss cheese. I'm rambling again... it must be the weather.
Figured I would come back to RF cause I don't get enough ***** about being overweight anywhere else...

But in German, "gross" means "great."

    Ba-Dg-Er, I'm beginning to suspect you're not Taco Bell's #1 customer....

We have a large Mexican immigrant population in KC, and a sizeable "West Side" concentration of Mexican-American owned and operated businesses, including several restaurants. I think even YOU would like some of that food! One place has unbelievably low prices (always a drawing card for yours truly, other things being equal), nice atmosphere, friendly service, great cooking, working-class (not yuppie) clientele: in short, a real winner. Umm. I'm getting hungry....

Trouble is, a Mexican meal does not historically improve my pedaling on the return trip....
