How much is a 1991 bianchi virata lugged steel road bike in good condition worth? I'm thinking of picking it up, throwing on a rack, and commuting from brooklyn to the city for work. Thanks,
Nate

It's too nice for a commuter.
Where you pickin' it up and when? I'm not planning to swipe it out from under you. Really I'm not.

Commuter? Sure. If it's got eyelets for racks/fenders. Just make sure those aren't steel wheels. Also that picture isn't really big enough. I'd say like $100-150 CAD would be a fair price.

I'd probably pay $100 US for it.
I jsut bought this one and paid $275 for it. Shimano 600 components.
Nate - Here are the specs from the '93 model, the farthest back Bikepedia goes. Apparently, back in the day, it was a higher-end bike.
If you're getting it from the original owner who gave it 20 years' worth of TLC, my SWAG is that it'd be worth ~$300. Otherwise, about half that.
It's more likely that you'd be getting it from someone who just rode it and didn't know it required maintenance. Therefore, you'd probably need to replace the cables, chain, bar tape, and maybe tires and tubes; the hubs and bottom bracket will probably need to be serviced and the wheels trued. (BTDT.) After that, though, it'd be a really sweet ride.Just make sure you can bring it into your workplace so it doesn't get stolen.
