Yes, yes. I have an old 80's road bike that I converted to fixed this past fall. It's mainly my commuter...fenders, gray spray paint job, fat 35mm tires. It's a kick to ride but I've had to walk it up a couple of the hills here in Seattle. Currently using 42x16 gearing.
Just putting my fixed-gear back together, in hopes of soon being able to ride...
Currently it has 42x16 gearing and is riding on nokian studded tyres (700c x 35), but I'll be switching things out so that it will be riding on the 32 pasela t-servs and with a 50x16 gearing soon.

I built it mostly for riding on the long, flat trails and paths along the canal locally. The trail near me is about 90 miles long, and only has hills at the locks. It varies from fine gravel to paved.50x16! Power hound huh?

I'm converting a Miyata 1000 to fixed. Have an old Dura-Ace EX track crank with a Shimano 7610 BB with a spindle length of 109 mm. Brooks Team Pro saddle. Will be using 47/16 with Dura-Ace track hub. Hope to get 2 rolly poly tyres to go with the Mavic Open Pro rims. Just ordered a Parks Tensionmeter to build my own wheels (hopefully!)
I converted my old horse, an '88 paramount w/ durace, into a fixie.
Sweet, nibble, like a body extension. Now if I can just get the cardiocutters to leave me alone long enough to lay down some base miles before the season.

I have a fixed gear CCM which is being eaten away by road salt as I write this.
This was definitely the right year to try a fixed gear for the winter.

Anyway, a month or two ago I finally got to build up an old ('70s era) Trek fixie after a year without one. Right now I have a little 39/17 on it since it is mainly for working on spinning. I have an early '80s Schwinn set up ss freewheel with 48/18.

my friend cliff's bike is on there it's under "cliff's carter" and damn that bike is siiiick...he needs new forks for it though...

I love all your fixie bikes! Here's my bike at the Fixed gallery site
Currently the bike is on a wind-trainer and will be back on the road soon. I have a new job with a 30 mile round-trip commute with lots of traffic. I've scoped out the route and plan on starting back on the bike commute real soon. Still debating on whether I should ride the fixie (kind of rolling terrain) or go back to the MTB with slicks. Maybe I'll try the fixie and see how it goes. If it kills me, then I'll reserve this special bike for flat rides and training.

Ive a dolan track frame, plannin on courier work so no carbon!!!! Miche primato crancks, Dura-ace rear hub, running 48-13 gearing mavic rims etc... As an owner of a multi-speed racer i'd definatly recommend fixies they're just better and more fun and if you can make it up a hill u'll do it faster then you wud on a racer....!

I ride a fixed gear. Even with my gray hair and aging look I get stares from teen-aged girls. I never get that on my geared bike.
