Who are you? Where do you ride?

I'm Tiffanie, live in Huntington Beach with my dh and three kids. I purchased a bike in June after realizing I was spending way too much time in Spinning classes with instructors/profiles that just weren't comparing to my favorite instructor's, who unfortunately is out until Nov/Dec.

I'm so glad I made the choice to get outside and take up this newfound addiction, errrr activity. Love that I've met so many great people from here and look forward to many more rides with everyone.

My typical rides consist of usually starting from my house and heading to the coast. Huntington, Newport and Irvine are the only places I've ridden so far (well, I did ride in Napa a few weeks ago while visiting there). My riding partner is currently on the down low and am finding that I have to push myself a little bit to get out and go. I don't care to ride alone much.

Here I am in Napa a few weeks ago. Not my bike - it was a rental!

I live in central-cal I guess, closer to SoCal though. I ride all over Santa Barbara. I do Mountain Drive about once a week. And Gibraltar once or twice a month.

My name is Andy. My wife & I moved to Redondo Beach several years ago & I thought it would be fun to get a bike to cruise on the local beach paths: little did I know it would lead to this! She never got into the cycling thing (prefering tennis) but 6 bikes later I'm loving it.
I've been in the screen printing business for over 20 years & own a shop in the Venice/Mar Vista area. I'm blessed with being able to commute straight up Dockweiler Beach and back, hardly dealing with traffic at all in this vast metropolis.
My weekend rides consist of northern loops up to Santa Monica and southern loops into Palos Verdes, switching off between Sat's and Sun's. I spent a long time riding alone, but now have a regular riding partner which is great. We did the Cool Breeze metric a couple of weeks back- I put a red star on my bib# but unfortunately didn't see any others.
I've also helped influence a couple of good friends to get into riding and expect to be spending more time with them up in the Santa Monica mountains.
I've never done any strict group riding & I'm not very fast, but like to think I've got decent handling skills after all the miles I've piled up. Whats most important to me is that I just keep doing it week after week and, apparently, year after year.

The somewhat pearshaped belly shows why I need to ride more. I believe I was the only person to do the ride on a fixed gear. Correct me if i'm wrong.

I did Tour de Sewer once back in the mid nineties. I think I still have the T-shirt....I don't think they've changed the ride logo over the years.

I wish i could tell you, but I only did the short ride. I had a wedding to go to that afternoon and my girlfriend wouldn't let me do the 30 mile. Next year though.

I think that big hill was part of either the 50 or metric century ride...

well..... i don't know about tour de sewer..... but i know that "the fixer" was the only person to ride the double metric of cool breeze (PLUS additional mileage due to a wrong turn! AND he climbed and descended "cali hill"!) i didn't go to the tour de sewer... had another ride that day!

I am Paralegal and a writer. I want to be a novelist though short stories are what usually emerge when I sit down to write.

About four months ago I started riding again after a 10 year break . When I was a teenager I did some pretty spectacular touring abroad and logged hundreds of miles in and around my home town back east. But I abandoned the bike when I moved to L.A. This past spring I decided that I had been out of the saddle long enough. Now my weekends are spent mostly trying to keep up with the OC Rebels and come October I'll be riding with the Blue Cross Rebels Team in the MS150 Bay to Bay Charity Tour. During the week I cheat traffic by leaving my car at home. I take the Metro to LAX and ride my bike from the Aviation Blvd. Green Line Station to Santa Monica where I work. If anyone wants to join in the commute they are most welcome. It's an exciting 14 mile little jaunt. A perfect wake up.

Yeah Aviation requires some fighting spirit. Fortunately I'm only on it for a short stretch before turning west on the access road that parallels Century. From there I make my way along Westchester before zig zagging into Playa across the jetti into Marina Del Rey. So aside from Aviation my ride is pretty pleasant.

Yes, I still have that frame....in fact my very last ride on that bike was the Pie Ride in January. The frame (Litespeed Classic) is now bare......most all components were transferred to my new Firenza several months ago. I might turn the Classic into a flat bar single speed or something one of these days if I can accumulate enough junk parts...

Hi... we just moved to the SF Valley (from LA) a couple months ago, which is when I decided to get back into biking. I live near Riverside and Van Nuys, so my typical 20-mile loop has been some variant of the Woodley, Woodman, Plummer, Osborn, and Laurel Cyn "bike routes". Boy do I hate stop lights. I suppose I will check out the SFVBC rides soon. Anyone else nearby?
