Change the name of this Subforum??

I was thinking that changing the name of this subforum from Mountain-Prairie to Mountain-Plains would have a better ring to it.

Plus, "Prairie" sounds a bit too quaint and cozy. Think of "Little House on the Prairie".

While Plains sounds bold and adventurous. Think of "Fortress on the Plains". (I made that up ).

And aren't states like KS, ND, NE and SD referred to as "The Plains States" anyway?

It is more accurately Plains.

Almost everyone that I know who's traveled through the Plains States say they're kind of boring to look at and that there's not much geographic diversity. But I still would like to travel through North and South Dakota. I've only seen them from about 35,000 feet, but I'm kind of inspired and awed by their bleakness.

I did travel through Kansas and thought that the eastern portion was rather beautiful. I didn't see much of the western portion as it was dark by the time I got there.

wow! i don't know where you got THAT impression! lol! i have no more and hopefully no less influence on joe than any other forum member! i probably am more persistent than most others.... (i.e bugging him about the socal forum!) but i BELIEVED in it... and it's proven to be a good thing!

that is, of course... unless joe likes all the lovie smilies i used when PM-ing him!... begging (literally) for the socal forum! but somehow i doubt that! it think he knew it was needed!

now back to our regularly scheduled forum posting!

I was just giving you props for being one of the main supporters of creating a SoCal subforum. And now Joe has taken that idea (and perhaps others) to create the whole Regional Discussions sub forum, which is another good idea.

And using the proposed SoCal jersey design as a starting point, I'm going to try to create a similar, yet different design for the Mountain-Plains folk. I'll use mountain outlines (kind of like the image on a Colorado license plate) to represent the mountain states, and a charging buffalo (much like the image the Buffalo Bills use on their football helmets) to represent the plains states --- stay tuned.

Sweet! Again, I'm not in that region (though I did live in Fort Collins for a time and we always skied in CO when growing up), I'll be interested in a jersey.

We're mulling over the design on a Great Lakes version and just waiting to get it finalized. Be on the lookout for that in the near future....

Missouri, Iowa, and Minnesota all kind of serve as the transition from Mississippi River area to where the Great Plains get going as you get further into Kansas, Nebraska, and the Dakotas.

You want flat? Take I-55 from St. Louis to Chicago. I've traveled it more times than I can count. The best times are when a T-storm is approaching and you can see it from 50 miles away, just knowing you're going to get nailed in about 25 minutes or so. It's a beautiful thing.

Stay tuned. I was actually thinking of having a green and yellow/ gold combo. But that's putting the cart before the hose. I'll first introduce a design or 2, and once the design phase is approved, we'll decide on color.

Then again, maybe there won't even be enough interest for a M-P jersey --- which could be a blessing in disguise!
