I was thinking that changing the name of this subforum from Mountain-Prairie to Mountain-Plains would have a better ring to it.

"...in Las Vegas where -the electric bills are staggering -the decor hog wild -and the entertainment saccharine -what a golden age -what a time of right and reason -the consumer's king -and unhappiness is treason..."
Sure, why not.

Plus, "Prairie" sounds a bit too quaint and cozy. Think of "Little House on the Prairie".
While Plains sounds bold and adventurous. Think of "Fortress on the Plains". (I made that up).
And aren't states like KS, ND, NE and SD referred to as "The Plains States" anyway?
"...in Las Vegas where -the electric bills are staggering -the decor hog wild -and the entertainment saccharine -what a golden age -what a time of right and reason -the consumer's king -and unhappiness is treason..."
Or the plane states, like the ones everyone flies over in a plane.

Yeah.... Illinois is the "Prairie State" and we're already in the Great Lakes sub-forum.
It is more accurately Plains.
If you send a PM to Joe Gardner, I'm sure he'll be willing to consider the name change. He lives somewhere in the Mountain region, if I recall....
oh.... i agree! plains is much better! (i think joe is in utah!)

I did travel through Kansas and thought that the eastern portion was rather beautiful. I didn't see much of the western portion as it was dark by the time I got there.

I'll make the change soon.

(i.e bugging him about the socal forum!) but i BELIEVED in it... and it's proven to be a good thing!Originally Posted by celticfrost

I was just giving you props for being one of the main supporters of creating a SoCal subforum. And now Joe has taken that idea (and perhaps others) to create the whole Regional Discussions sub forum, which is another good idea.Originally Posted by caligurl

And using the proposed SoCal jersey design as a starting point, I'm going to try to create a similar, yet different design for the Mountain-Plains folk. I'll use mountain outlines (kind of like the image on a Colorado license plate) to represent the mountain states, and a charging buffalo (much like the image the Buffalo Bills use on their football helmets) to represent the plains states --- stay tuned.

Sweet! Again, I'm not in that region (though I did live in Fort Collins for a time and we always skied in CO when growing up), I'll be interested in a jersey.Originally Posted by celticfrost
We're mulling over the design on a Great Lakes version and just waiting to get it finalized. Be on the lookout for that in the near future....

I love the idea of having a jersey for each section...![]()
I made the change as requested, I also moved Missouri over to this forum.
Thanks Joe.
Ah, poor ole Missouri, the orphan that no one wants. That's what they get for being a neutral state in the Civil War! (joke)

Neutral!! There were a ton of battles fought in Missouri, it being a border state and all.Originally Posted by celticfrost

(I know you threw that in as a joke, but as a native of the state, I just had to chime in. I was a history major in college, after all.)
Missouri, Iowa, and Minnesota all kind of serve as the transition from Mississippi River area to where the Great Plains get going as you get further into Kansas, Nebraska, and the Dakotas.
I love it when folks call Kansas flat. Maybe the western half, but the eastern portion has tons of elevation change.
Yeah, I think that Missouri's neutrality can be debated as being a total myth.Originally Posted by CyLowe97

Can I get that jersey with yellow?

Otherwise.... corn. soybeans. corn. corn. offramp. corn. corn.
As long as there's at least 10 buyers, you can have ANY color you want! : )Originally Posted by voltman
Stay tuned. I was actually thinking of having a green and yellow/ gold combo. But that's putting the cart before the hose. I'll first introduce a design or 2, and once the design phase is approved, we'll decide on color.
Then again, maybe there won't even be enough interest for a M-P jersey --- which could be a blessing in disguise!

Kansas is flat, until you buy a bike. Then all these hills appear that I swear were never here before.
And welcome to the Missouri people and our little corner of BF.
