    Top cycling movies. Your pick here please.

    I posted here to ask for your opinions as opposed to posting in Road cycling because I want substance, not volume and fluff.

    Mine was on tv from the Red Shoe diaries I think. Even better it was French so it was realy good if you know what I mean. Can't remember the name but it was about a guy during a stage race and after every stage he got laid by some groupy. The story went: racing, sex, racing, sex, racing ,sex. Gripping stuff for sure but my wife came home so I had to quickly turn it off missing the end. Not that I was understanding it, it being French and all.

    I have never seen any other cycling movies.

    On another note, I already own TDFs 1999, 2000, & 2001. Of the remaining Lance TDFs, which year has the best stages to watch ? (mountain).

    Thats one I have been trying to get. Couldn't so I ordered Sunday in hell instead. It is suposed to be good also.

    Vive le Tour by Loius Malle, one of his early movies. Its set in the 60s (maybe 50s). Great scene where a bunch of domestiques get to a little village and pillage a restaurant for anything liquid to drink. They run out with bottles of wine and champagne and get back in the peloton and pass it around.

    I think they showed some guy riding a bike in one scene.

    To be honest, there aren't that many (fictional) cycling movies out there that are any good.

    Nobody mentioned 'Breaking Away'? Still the best cycling movie EVER. By far. The scene where the father reports to his wife that their son is 'shaving' - and she replies 'so what' and he replies (with that classic look of shock on his face) 'his legs'. So many classic moments in that film.

    Maybe because it's so old (1979) - and it's been forgotten. Check it out. You get to see Dennis Quaid in one of his earliest film roles (I think he's like 23 yrs. old in that film, he looks about 19)...

    Mentioned in post #4 of this thread, but not in great detail. That's a great scene, but whatever happened to the star of the movie?
