Often ride in DC and Maryland as well as Virginia, so I check on two regional forums.

Lived and rode in The Newport News area for years. Contes was my LBS. They treated me fantastically. Commmuted from near the shipyard to Langley AFB every day that I could. Then I retired and moved to Illinois. There are some very good riding areas on and near the Pennisula!

Richmond area. Ditto on the first time check-in. Also, still down with a broken wrist for a couple more weeks.

Traveled from the Panhandle of Florida to the New river "Rails to Trails" a couple of weeks ago. If you get a chance to ride that trail, do it. It runs about 59 miles from Galax to Pulaski Va. along the river. Beautiful view with water falls along the way, clean camping sites and facilities. We are heading back next year. BUT,
we gotta get in a little better shape. We only got 10 miles out and back.

Yeah. The DC area has a lot of members on BikeForums, but we're split into two regions.
Confusing. Norther Virgina events seem to be getting short changed.

    Rides in Virginia Beach area

Do you know of any good road routes in the Virginia Beach area? I am going to be in town for a wedding next weekend and am looking for about a 30-50 mile ride. Thanks
    Ted
