I'm currently in San Diego but trying to move to Charlotte, NC? In general, what is the riding like in Charlotte - bike lanes, clubs, hills, etc.
Thanks,
DD

Charlotte is a pretty big, sprawling city, so it all depends on where you live and want to ride. I have a friend that lived there and he found a nice 30 and 60 mile loop that would take him out of traffic. I don't know where that was, so I am not much help. I live about an hour north/west of there and we have great rolling hills type riding.
Good luck with your move. You sure you want to leave SD? ;-)
Where am I going?......

we're moving too (from portland, or) ... while i'll miss the cycling here, i'm hoping charlotte will offer some decent routes. i was out there a month ago and saw many roadies east of downtown around the providence and providence intersection. i asked a rider how the clubs are and he said he doesn't belong to one, but a local lbs can help. typical answer, so i feel like the cycling there will be good.
we'll be far out on the west side, however around the mt holly/huntersville area. the roads have no shoulder there and i have yet to ride. we'll see in a month how cycling friendly my neighborhood will be. good luck to you!
wow! what's the draw to the Queen City? Why are you all moving here? Just curious, I'm a transplant to NC myself. I moved here from Reno about 10 years ago.

My draw to Charlotte is family. Still looking for a job so I'm not sure how soon the relocation will take place.
company is growing it's charlotte location. we are happy to oblige.
Whatever the reason, I hope you will enjoy it out here. I love this little corner of the world and Charlotte is a great city. Sometime, you'll have to come up and ride in my area!
cheers!

I moved to Charlotte about a year ago from San Fran and have enjoyed the riding here. Wish I would have taken more advantage of it when in San Fran but Charlotte has been good. Shoot an email if you are looking for someone to ride with. I spend most of my weekends up in Asheville riding with friends there, thats where you need to go. Good luck.
Am a roadie primarily, living in Lake Norman (Davidson) area north of the city. Great road riding up here with many routes without heavy traffic. In town and south of the city, greater growth means traffic! Some singletrack around, including nice 12+ mi. trail at Lake Norman State Park 25mi north in Troutman NC, just off I-77. Cycling club up here, not a member just because I can't always schedule riding time that tightly. E-mail if looking for more info or a riding partner.
