Anyone know when the tunnel under I-435 connecting Antioch Rd with Corporate Woods is opening? It was originally planned for this month...but not yet. Just looking for an update.
Thanks. showme

This site has a weekly update, although it doesn't address your question directly. I dunno, maybe you can get more out of it than I did since I live in Lawrence.![]()

Thanks for the link. It says all the construction should be completed by November 2007...
guess you can't rush these things. An alternative route should be open soon..I ride to the closure at least once a week...I'll post when it opens.

Good deal. I rode with a friend last weekend in JoCo and was wondering where commuters ride since the main streets are so congested. We just stuck to the paved trails. I have an interest because at any given time a person in Lawrence might have to find work out that way.![]()

Commuters, the few that I've seen and brave enough to still ride enjoy the middle of the road with the SUV's. Johnson County must have the most dangerous roads in the country. Riding to work here with people on cell phones and in a hurry must be close to a death threat in my opinion.

I've been thinking about riding to work but have never been brave enough. I actually have a pretty nice ride figured out that would avoid the major arteries.
And OP talks about being "bicycle friendly". Ha.
Thought I would resurrect this post from last fall...same question.
Anybody know the status of the Antioch/I-435 tunnel?

Yes, I rode through said tunnel last Wednesday:

Veloroute love for part of my trip:

FYI though, the path is still closed just west of that tunnel, making you ride on REALLY crappy sections of Corp. Woods' sidewalk as a detour.

Thanks ax0n. I've been looking forward to taking the trail from 99th & Holmes, through Leawood Park, west to Antioch, through the tunnel and south through Olathe, past Mid America to 151st by the high school. I think it will be a 36 mile roundtrip.
