I'll be taking my old white Fuji down to Salisbury next weekend, and crossing my fingers on the weather. Seeing as how I've only met a couple BF members in real life, I'd be open to meeting up, and possibly riding at least a part of the ride with anyone here who'd like to do the same.

I'll be riding the Seagull for the first time this year. It will be my fourth Century this season, following the Tour de Cure, Reston Century, and Back Roads Century. Should be easier than those if the weather holds out, due to the lack of hills. But in a stiff headwind and the rain, it could be quite challenging.
I'll be there. It will my third Seagull....weather-wise the first one (two years ago) was drop dead gorgeous, while the second (last year) was a monsoon. The 10-day weather forecast (weather.com) is calling for rainbut I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Forecasts at this point are meaningless. I've found that forecasts for any periods longer than about two days are little more than guesses. So let's keep our fingers crossed! Just in case I'm considering picking up a jacket at the LBS this week - I currently don't have a good one for cycling.
i picked up a jacket just in case. Which hopefully mmeans I won't need it. I would really love a dry ride this year. My last century a few weeks ago was rain all day.

This will be my first Seagull Century. I'm crossing my fingers for good weather too! I'm going with 20 members of my bike club.

By the way, on the snowball-in-hell chance that I'm not the only map geek among the 7000 Seagull riders who actually likes to look at the cue sheet . . . the Seagull Web site says that the cue sheet has been revised, and the new version can be downloaded from the site.
I'm definitely going. BTW -- Forecast for Salisbury on Saturday: Clear! Highs in upper 60's.
We'll be there. Done MOST of the Seagull's since 1990 (its 2nd year - only 600 riders with a mass start!). My husband rides the 100 on a fixie, I do the metric on a road bike. No kid this year - we had too much fun last year without him (plus, sitting on a trail-a-bike for 64 miles isn't easy for a 5 year old). Last year was definitely the WORSE weather wise - that was NUTS!!!! Try to leave mid afternoon Friday so we can check out the vendors Friday evening.
FYI. It looks like they've altered the first and last 5-6 miles of the course.
P.S. Weather.com has altered it's forecast....they've moved the rain to Friday and are now calling for Cloudy conditions with a high of 70. We'll see.

maxie - I too like to follow along with a map. Gives me something to do. And I've been lead blindly in the wrong direction a few times by following someone who made a wrong turn. I want 100 miles no more no less.

Weather.com now has showers in the forecast for Saturday. Looks like it will be a washout. Oh well - I picked up a jacket at Performance today. I wonder if its worth getting some long cycling pants or if I should just stick with the shorts?

Of course it'll rain, I emailed a buddy earlier this week saying, "it looks like a good weekend weather-wise for the SG century - sunny, 70s, light winds..." - then the next forecast they changed it to rain.
Per wunderground weather, they're calling for light rains and not like last years downpour.

I am totally bummed. This was going to be my first year. I have been searching various weather sites, including the National Weather Service, and Saturday looks like a wash-out. Some forecasters are calling for heavy rain, with several inches possible. And windy conditions. Matter of fact, looks like a repeat of last year.
Weather channel calls for 40% chance of showers and winds from the NNE. Not quite a repeat of last year, but not exactly what folks are hoping for either.

As long as the front pass through before Saturday we'll be okay. Once the high is upon us we'll be fine.
My weather prediction is a lously day Friday, light rain a bit of wind Saturday morning, part sun and light breeze Saturday afternoon.
With any luck the high will push through early Friday and a fairly nice day Saturday. Worse case front pushes through Saturday ...but don't even think that!

Yeah, the temperature is a huge factor. My first Seagull was in 2003, when it was rainy, AND windy, AND cold. Fun times.
Yeah, this is probably going to take me out of it as well. 40mph gusts and rain. Bummer...
Don't be so fast. I just looked at weather.com and while they're calling for rain (steady in the morning, 80%) and wind (NE at 15-25 mph), the projected high is 65 degrees. Come on...you won't melt.
