Grants Will Improve Illinois Bike Paths
(AP) SPRINGFIELD, Ill. Governor Rod Blagojevich says the state will spend more than $2.5 million to build or make improvements to bicycle paths throughout Illinois.
Blagojevich says the grants will improve the quality of life in communities and make them more attractive to visitors.
Seven of the paths are in northern Illinois, including three in Will County, two in Cook County, one in Lake County and one in Rock Island County.
One of the projects is in Champaign County in central Illinois, and four are in Madison and St. Clair Counties in southern Illinois.
The largest grant of $576,600 will be spent on a trail in the Metro East Park and Recreation District.
