I was in the mountains this weekend, so no cycling for me I did get on the trainer for about an hour last night though. Got a decent workout, but it's a lousy substitute. I'm hoping to get some riding in early morning tomorrow. Anyone interested? Maybe the SCT?

edit: woohoo! page 8!

I was up in NY for the weekend - no riding either. Saw a bunch of cyclists on Route 9W from the George Washington Bridge all the way up to Nyack on the Hudson River. I was so jealous - looking sadly out of the car window...

Saturday was WINDY so the wife and I did our usual weekend projects. I did my usual ride to Stn Mtn on Sunday. Should have worked on both bikes. My commuter bike needs some minor brake work and the front der on my road bike throws the chain. I'll guess I'll work on them tonight.

Who's doing the Meltons ride tomorrow?
We want at least this many to show up.

Sunset will be at 5:35 PM and the ride starts about 6:30 PM so remember your lights.

Like most others, I did my morning ride to work today. Same tomorrow.
My hours are a little flexible but not enough to allow me the luxury of riding before work.

I actually commuted the whole way to work on Monday! Wunderbar!

it wasn't too bad, just really really hilly. It's WAY more fun than riding to the MARTA though.

Where was everyone last night? The Melton's ride was great. Warmer than I expected.

gosh, I don't know when I'm going to be able to do any evening rides next...I've been stuck at work late for what seems like forever. Looking at my work schedule, I should be there on the 21st though

Seems like I have to pack a lot of riding in a short time when I have time off and just get all my "recovery" in at work. Though, I suppose that's not exactly how it's supposed to work.

If I'm stuck at work for just a few minutes past five, I can't get out to the ride in time. I broke down and finally set up the trainer. I hate the trainer.

Maybe... I've got two things I'm training for - one is a 50-mile mountain bike ride, the other a 12 hour road race. So, I might have to break down and spend some quality time on my mountain bike.

I think the 12 hour road race training should take precidence.

Like I said... maybe! I was thinking about getting a bunch of Sorellas, and we'll all drop together so no one is riding alone. Although I've heard the pace has been pretty tame, I'm sure it's still a bit high for me.

I hear the 50 mile pace isn't so bad, but those on the 70 miler apparently go crazy fast...I'm not sure which group I'm going to be hanging with...probably try the 70

the pace was definitely not winter base mile pace like it should be...even the 50 mile route was balls to the wall for the entire duration. A couple teams tried to slow the pace down but the Cyclista Latina(I think that's the name) guys kept going nuts off the front.

I've heard that the Airport Loop is NOT a winter base mile ride, but a race training ride. Quite a bit of a difference, if you ask me. I would probably get dropped in the parking lot

Edit: Honeycrisp rock!

I dunno, I thought Nov/Dec was supposed to be more base mile pace and it sped up in Jan/Feb...a few of the teams were sorta pissed it went so fast, so maybe they'll just let the rabbits go run off ahead next week.

Woohoooooo!!!! Tommy's doing the Fruitcake Ride! This is a great ride, and the company can't be beat!
Saturday, December 16th. -- 80 miles, just in time to make room for holiday calories!

Fruitcake Ride 9:00 am Moderate Strenuous
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fruitcakes and cyclists-- How do they match up? Fruits? Nuts? Sometimes soaked in alcohol? Yeah, that works!!! Now is the time to prove to all your friends and family that you are a fruitcake. Join the Original Fruitcakes for a ride to the Monastery in Conyers.Meet at 9:00 in the O'Charley's parking lot on Northlake Parkway in Tucker. We will ride through Stone Mountain and Lithonia to Conyers to enjoy the fresh fruitcakes sold at the Monastery in Conyers, as well as tours of the grounds for those who wish to learn about the history and take in the peaceful setting. We will either eat lunch at the monastery, if they can accomodate the group (RSVP requested for this option), or at a nearby establishment on the return trip. The ride distance is approximately 40 miles each way and uses the beautiful Arabia Mountain PATH. We will ride as a group with an average speed of 12 to 14 miles per hour.

It's an SBL ride - check there for more details.

Not sure if I can do this ride, but I highly recommend it!

Leslie,
I am expecting to see you at the Fruitcake Ride. If you have other plans, move 'em. The company will not be anywhere near as good if you are not there. You skipped the last few, which may lead to punishment, and we are using the new Panola Mountain extension off the Arabia Mountain PATH and it is well worth it.

Did my usual ride to Stone Mountain today. What a mistake!!! The people who weren't at the malls getting the after-Thanksgiving bargains were at Stone Mountain. The line of cars waiting to get in at the west gate stretched half way back to the German restaurant. The traffic inside the park was insane.
I'm guessing it will be like that all weekend.
